Director, choreographer, dancer – Stark Company

Bonjour !
I am Willie Stark, born in Paris with roots in Kampala, Uganda. As a dancer, choreographer, director, and curator, I combine Urban, African, and contemporary dance techniques with transdisciplinary approaches.
My work operates at the intersection of dance, voice, and text, engaging intensively with contemporary socially critical issues. I explore questions of identity, resistance, gender, and embodied narratives, using dance as a political and artistic language of resistance. I have been collaborating with institutions such as FFT Düsseldorf, Tanzhaus NRW, LWL Museum Münster, Kampnagel Hamburg, the Philharmonie Liège, PACT Zollverein, BOZAR, and Schauspielhaus Dortmund. I am also giving lectures at the University of Cologne, among other places.
In recent years, my choreographic signature has developed into an independent artistic language through my own productions: EXOTIQUES (nominated for the Cologne Dance Theater Prize 2025), Wombs of Revolution, Chapt(her)s, Louves, Le bal des masques, among others. In addition to my performative practice, I was part of the curation team of Fusion Dance Battle in Focus Tanz 8 in Kampnagel Hamburg and I am the curator and director of Tales, an annual festival at FFT Düsseldorf, inaugurated with a successful first edition in January.
Know as a cultural artist and entrepreneur, I became one of the most influential figure in the House dance scene.
My passion for working as a background dancer, brought me on tour with the band Gato Preto in 2019. As a dancer and choreographer, I worked closely with the group and managed the choreographic design of the show.
